News | Celebrating the 70th Anniversary of the 24-Form Tai Chi – Association Participates in National Online Showcase

Created in 1956, the 24-Form Simplified Tai Chi has become a milestone in the development of public fitness in China. Over the past 70 years, it has benefited millions of people, spread around the world, and become a treasured element of Chinese intangible cultural heritage.
In support of the National Fitness Plan (2026–2030), the Organising Committee of the National Fitness Congress launched this nationwide online showcase under the theme "Tai Chi for Health – Passing the Legacy Forward." Combining online submissions with offline performances, the event aims to promote traditional Chinese martial arts, encourage healthy lifestyles, and celebrate the enduring cultural heritage of Tai Chi.
The South Australian Health Qigong & Tai Chi Association proudly joined the event as a medium-sized performance team of more than ten members. After dedicated preparation, the Association submitted two demonstration programs: the 24-Form Simplified Tai Chi and the 32-Form Tai Chi Sword. Through focused practice and refined performance, participants demonstrated the elegance, harmony, and spirit of Tai Chi while putting the principles of lifelong fitness into action and helping preserve this treasured cultural tradition.
The Association will continue to promote Tai Chi throughout South Australia, encouraging more people to embrace healthy living through regular practice.

President of the Fitness Qigong Tai Chi Association of South Australia:Dan Zhao

On March 21, 2026, the first International Tai Chi Day was celebrated. The South Australian Qigong and Tai Chi Association held a celebration event by the beautiful Torrens River. Vice Consul General Wang Hongsun and Consul Wu Yue from the Consulate General of China in Adelaide, Commissioner Natalie from the Adelaide City Council, and Chairman Li Chengjin of the McDirector Company attended the event and delivered speeches. We celebrated the day together with hundreds of millions of Tai Chi practitioners around the world! Live a healthy life, and let Tai Chi be your companion. In the beautiful melody of Tai Chi, we performed Tai Chi Fan, Tai Chi Eight Methods and Five Steps, and Chen-style Xin Yi Hun Yuan Tai Chi. The celebration concluded in a warm and harmonious atmosphere!

The Adelaide City Commissioner visited the event site to record the charm of Tai Chi

On June 9, 2026, in the early winter of Adelaide, the sky was blue and the sun was shining brightly. At the training ground of the South Australia Fitness Qigong Tai Chi Association in Veale Gardens (Rose Garden), the Adelaide City Commissioner and a team of professional photographers arrived to inspect and provide guidance.

At 10 a.m., under the leadership of  Zhao Dan, the president of the association, the members, all dressed in uniform, were full of energy. With the beautiful melody as the background, they successively performed classic items such as the Eight Methods and Five Steps of Tai Chi, 24 Forms of Tai Chi, Chen-style Mindful Mixed Tai Chi, Tai Chi Kung Fu Fan, and Health-Qing Gong Yi Jin Jing. The movements were smooth and flowing, with both strength and flexibility, fully demonstrating the unique charm of traditional Chinese health preservation exercises. The municipal accompanying photographers took photos throughout the event, capturing the vigorous postures and wonderful moments of the team members with their cameras.
The municipal commissioner watched the entire performance on site and highly praised the association's efforts in promoting traditional fitness culture and enriching the community's cultural and sports life. This event not only fully demonstrated the cultural charm of Tai Chi Qigong, but also contributed to the dissemination and integration of Chinese traditional culture in the local area.
